Dr. Océane Hourtané is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry. A specialist in analytical chemistry, biogeochemistry, and aquatic ecotoxicology, she studies the fate and effects of inorganic contaminants in freshwater. More specifically, she is interested in the theoretical and experimental determination of the chemical speciation of metals, as well as the details of the mechanisms that lead to their internalization by living organisms (algae, plants, protozoa, fish) in the presence of natural organic ligands.
